The Solidarity Academy Vol. 7, 2011

 The European Solidarity Centre (ECS) andThe Tertio Millennio Institute invite students and young professionals from Poland and Central and Eastern European countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia) to attend the Solidarity Academy 2011, an international, five day seminar dedicated to the idea of solidarity, the history and heritage of the Solidarity Movement, and contemporary solidarity in international relations, public affairs, social life, politics and economy.

The Academy will be held from 8 to 13 May 2011, in Gdansk. Forty participants from abroad and ten from Poland will be invited to attend lectures from renowned historians and leading figures of public life from Poland and abroad. They will also take part in practical workshops, which will allow the participants to gain knowledge and basic practical skills in one of the following fields: The History and Idea of the Solidarity Movement, Social Change or Social Participation. The programme also includes visits to important historical places connected with the Solidarity Movement.

The application form is available here – the application deadline is 20 March 2011, for foreign participants and 3 April 2011, for Polish participants.

The European Solidarity Centre will provide participants with accommodation, meals and educational materials. ECS will also partially reimburse the travel expenses of participants from outside Poland.

The working language of the Academy is English.
