In November 2012 and November 2013 a group of 25 multipliers will be invited to come to two consecutive seminars. The first seminar will initiate the implementation of teaching materials on the Roma
genocide, "The Fate of the European Roma
and Sinti during the Holocaust", by jointly preparing lesson plans and workshop formats that will be put into practice by the multipliers in the following year. The second seminar will evaluate this first phase of implementation. The teaching materials that will be the focus of the seminar are being developed by Gerhard Baumgartner with experts from several countries.
The development of the teaching materials and the seminar for multipliers are supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture, the Task Force on International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research and the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah
.
Professionals in the field of education from Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, the Netherlands, France and Poland are invited to apply to be participants in this project. Teacher trainers and educators/community leaders working with Roma
students are especially encouraged to apply.
The costs for participation in the conference and workshop for a selected group of 25 multipliers (travel and accommodation) will be covered. Applicants are requested to write a letter of motivation in English or German, taking into consideration their ability to work with the materials during the course of their work in 2013. There is no additional funding available to organize workshops or teaching seminars.
The program of the conference is open to a wider audience. The multipliers will be expected to attend the whole conference. The workshop on implementation of the materials will be a closed session for multipliers only.
